Why did I start Special “Finds…”?
The idea of Special “Finds…” developed from my personal experiences as a buyer, and then as a seller — long before I became a real estate agent. Like you, I have owned many unique homes for sale. As a buyer, I was frustrated working with traditional real estate firms who couldn’t comprehend that I was searching for a unique property, so they continuously showed me standard and mundane properties fitting within the narrow confines of their local MLS. When I was ready to sell my unique homes, I discovered that traditional firms lacked the knowledge, skills, and experience to market unusual properties, so, I took my years of marketing expertise gained as Director of Marketing of the New York Stock Exchange, combined this with a real estate license to fill the much-needed gap in the real estate industry, and voila! Special “Finds…” was born! We market and promote unusual properties and unique homes for sale Let us help you. We are an ad agency for unusual homes. We are also Realtors devoted to getting unique houses sold.
7. Shipshape design
$499,900, 2203 E. 51st St. #A, Austin, TX 78723
This three-bedroom, three-full-bathroom home artfully fashioned from converted shipping containers includes design elements such as a floating steel staircase, quartz countertops, and walls of windows that bring in nature. The 1,484-square-foot Mueller-award winning home has sleek cabinetry with gold pulls, brick flooring in the master bath, and hickory floorboards upstairs.
Nevada’s underground lair
Who needs the house with the bunker when you can live underground altogether? This sprawling subterranean mansion spans 15,000 square feet and comes complete with a pool and spa. When you start craving sunlight, ride your elevator (yes, elevator) back up to ground level to soak up some rays.
Washington’s dragon’s den
If you looked at the other castle homes on this list and thought, “Hmm, something’s missing,” we know exactly what it was — a dragon in the courtyard. Fortunately, this home has not one, but two dragons. And one of them is a baby dragon, which is actually pretty adorable.

The Chandelier House
San Clemente, California $1.4 million Why have one chandelier in a room when you can have so many more? We’re not really sure what else there is to say or speculate on when it comes to this listing. Maybe Sia lives here?
The Whimsical Tower House
Saugerties, New York $799,000 Is it a tree house? A lighthouse? This three-bedroom tower with Catskills views defies description, which is fitting: It was designed and built by artist John Kahn, who collaborated with Jim Henson as he created the Muppets. The main home is decked out with a spiral staircase, parapets, and balconies, plus there’s a guesthouse, a warehouse, a sauna, and even a storage building re-imagined as a rail car. The property also features plenty of sculptures and other pieces of Kahn’s handiwork.
