2021 Ferrari F8 Tributo Changes: 🚙What’s New?
The evolution of the original 458 has come a very long way, and we're at a point in the evolutionary process where its successors are delivering hypercar levels of performance without the official title. The Ferrari F8 Tributo replaces the stunningly evocative 488GTB, which was praised for its visceral performance and stunningly good looks. The 488GTB took the fight directly to big dogs such as the McLaren 720S and the Lamborghini Aventador. With over 700 horsepower and an even more shapely body design, the Ferrari F8 Tributo is more capable than any of its predecessors, which is saying a whole lot.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The F8 Tributo and Spider are rated at 15 mpg in the city and between 18 and 19 mpg on the highway. That’s slightly better mileage than you’ll get with rivals such as the Lamborghini Huracán (up to 13/18 mpg). We haven’t had a chance to run the Ferrari on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route—part of our extensive testing regimen—so we can’t evaluate its real-world mpg. For more information about the F8’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
A pair of LCD monitors and an integrated navigation system with a voice-activation feature comes as a standard in both models of the Ferrari F8 Tributo.
Ferrari F8 Tributo Transmission
The prominent knob on the steering wheel is known as the Manettino. It allows the driver to change modes between rain, normal, sport and RACE. Although it alters traction control and stability systems, its main mission is governing the transmission. Race mode enables a new shift strategy that reduces shift times by 30ms. Torque management in all gears offers smooth & consistent acceleration. The only issue is that they are losing sales by not offering a manual transmission.
Engine and PerformanceThe beating heart of the Ferrari F8 is one of the most powerful engines the Italian brand has ever built for a street-legal vehicle, a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8. Despite being incredibly compact and lightweight, the motor generates an immense 711 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque, producing near-instant acceleration to 60 mph and seemingly unlimited power. Like the racecars it's based upon, the F8 employs a dual-clutch transmission that can operate in automatic or manual mode, with paddle shifters equipped behind the carbon-fiber and leather steering wheel. The F8 gets an EPA-estimated 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg highway.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Supercars often come up short in the area of driver-assistance technology, and this is the case with the F8. Amenities such as a blind-spot warning system aren’t offered. For more information about the F8’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard backup
- Standard rear parking sensors
