2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
A new Jeep Grand Cherokee is here after a long wait and arrives first in a new form: the 2021 Grand Cherokee L with three rows of seats.
Jeep says there is much more to come from the Grand Cherokee lineup, so we’ve detailed the upcoming SUV versions that are likely to be released later in 2021 and future model years. Here is the current state of the Grand Cherokee lineup and we think it will be shortly.
The fate of the high-performing Grand Cherokee is still uncertain. While the upcoming SRT and Jeep Trackhawk 2022 models (pictured) will continue for the 2021 model year, Jeep has yet to confirm SRT maintenance for the new generation.
We think the three-row Grand Cherokee L is an unlikely candidate for SRT treatment, but we won’t rule it out, although the two-row version is more likely to grow the SRT variant any time soon.
Jeep has presented the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee SUV, a three-row model called the Grand Cherokee L which demonstrates Wagoneer’s design inspiration.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L 2021 seats six or seven passengers and will offer two engines, three different propulsion systems, available air suspension, and lots of new technology.
It will go on sale this spring likely starting at just under $ 40,000, and a new two-line version and plug-in-hybrid model will go into production later in the year.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV will launch its fifth generation, and it is introduced with a three-row model called the Grand Cherokee L which can accommodate up to seven people.
If the three-line design choice raises questions about the off-road credibility of this new Jeep, division leader, Jim Morrison, answers, “Don’t let the third line fool you, this Jeep is still capable.”
This popular SUV will continue to offer a two-line model, which will go into production at the end of the year along with the 4xe plug-in-hybrid.
The hands-free driving capability will also arrive in the second model year, Jeep said. Meanwhile, the Grand Cherokee L 2021 shown here will go on sale this spring, likely starting at under $ 40,000.
By year’s end, Jeep will have three new three-line SUVs in its lineup: the unibody Grand Cherokee L, available in Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit trim, as well as full body-on-frame Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. – utes size.
Wagoneers will start in the $ 60,000 range while Jeep says a fully loaded Grand Wagoneer can fetch over $ 100,000. The Grand Cherokee L and Wagoneers will compete with the Ford Explorer and Expedition, Chevy’s Traverse and Tahoe, as well as Toyota’s Highlander and Sequoia.
Jeep says the Grand Cherokee L’s proportions are inspired by the original Wagoneer, and you’ll see a bit of the flair of the new Grand Wagoneer concept blended in too.
The biggest dose is in the seven-slot grille, which tilts slightly forward, with sleek LED headlamps attached to either side. Below, the front fascia of the new model features an active and expanded opening, hiding driver assist technology, compared to the previous generation.
A gloss black roof is available on the Overland model and standard on the Summit, and the roofline flows to the slim LED taillights.
The available Summit Reserve package includes a set of 21-inch wheels (pictured above) while the top two models get standard 20-inch wheels. Limited models and base Laredo use 18-inch wheels.
The wheelbase of the Grand Cherokee L is 6.9 inches longer than the current model, and the new model is equipped with independent front suspension and multi-link rear.
(The current two-row version will carry over to the 2021 model year and a new two-row model will arrive later, possibly as the 2022 model.)
The second row L seats fold and slide forward to allow easier access to the third row, which has folding seats. strong and 30.3 inches – 1.9 inches less legroom than the Ford Explorer.
There are 47 cubic feet of storage behind the second row, 11 cubics more than the two Grand Cherokee rows, and when all the seats fold to a flat load floor, the L offers 85 cubic feet of storage, three less than the Explorer.

The next-generation big SUV is spied on in a Wagoner-inspired style, ahead of its expected 2021 reveal.
The next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee has been spying testing on US roads, ahead of its sometimes expected debut in 2021.
Images taken by our spy photography partners reveal the American brand’s fifth-generation large SUV will mark an evolutionary step from its predecessors in the style department, taking cues from the newer Jeep models.
Upfront, the new Grand Cherokee draws a lot of inspiration from the huge luxury flagship of the upcoming Grand Wagoneer – revealed earlier this year in the guise of a concept, and depicted on the background of this spy image in camouflaged production form – with a sleek, high mount. interpretation of the Jeep’s seven-slot grille, flanked by LED headlamps.
The headlights appear to be connected by a full-width LED daytime running light strip, while beneath the grille assembly is a large air intake arrangement (although most of it is blocked in textured 3D plastic).
On the downside, the sharp shoulder line and the badge mounted on the front door of the grand Cherokee’ can be seen through the camouflage, while the sleek taillights and pentagonal exhaust outlets headline the upright rear.
While no images of the new Grand Cherokee’s interior have been captured by our spies, a leaked interior rendering posted to social media in August 2019 shows a much more contemporary design than its predecessor, featuring a 10.1-inch, 10.1- inch digital instrument cluster. an inch touch screen and an assortment of premium materials and surfaces.
A three-line option is also expected to be offered with the new generation WL series models.
The cabin is also likely to be inspired by the Grand Wagoneer concept, which features a total of four screens for the front passenger, with screen sizes ranging from 10.25 to 12.3 inches.
The new large SUV is expected to use a version of the Giorgio platform that supports the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the Stelvio mid-sizer, which is stretched out to accommodate a two- and three-row Jeep body measuring about five meters.
A variety of petrol and diesel powertrains are expected to be offered in different markets, likely including a light hybrid 2.0-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder petrol engine, a 3.6-liter ‘Pentastar’ petrol V6, and a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine.
A high-performance SRT model powered by a naturally aspirated and supercharged V8 engine is also expected to carry over to the WL Grand Cherokee series, while a plug-in hybrid model – potentially sharing components with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in – is card active.
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to launch sometime in 2021, with the relatively minimal amount of camouflage worn by the prototypes pictured throughout leading to disclosure earlier than later, likely in the first few months of the year.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk beats the Charger Hellcat Redeye to 60 mph and in the 1/4-mile
MotorTrend completes controlled acceleration tests with every vehicle it rates. On windy days, the publication even runs its tests in two directions and averages the results. Jeep originally claimed the 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk would accelerate to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. MotorTrend found it to be even faster.
When MotorTrend tested the Trackhawk, its journalists found the SUV’s best 0-60 time was 3.3 seconds. That time was at least 0.4 seconds faster than every other Hellcat product the team had ever tested. The only SUV to reach 60 mph faster during MotorTrend’s tests was the Tesla Model X.
On the same run, the Trackhawk continued on to run the 1/4-mile in 11.7 seconds, crossing the finish line at 116.2 mph. Finally, the Hellcat-powered Jeep tore around MotorTrend’s figure-eight course in just 24.7 seconds.
Though the Trackhawk routes 70% of its 707 horsepower to its rear wheels, its AWD obviously is a major advantage for this Hellcat vehicle.
